About Us

We’ve spent decades building enterprise reporting tools.

XLiQ is a connected Excel reporting platform built by three founders, each with two decades experience in enterprise reporting. We share a conviction that Excel was never the problem, and that when carefully extended it becomes an integral part of the most effective self-serve reporting solutions.

Why we built XLiQ.

Every reporting initiative ends with a spreadsheet.

For two decades, we’ve built enterprise reporting tools. It started with a fuels pricing platform for oil and gas majors — feedback was monotonously consistent: “how do I get this into Excel?” So we built a data-connected Excel reporting tool and spun it into its own product and business. It grew to 800 customers, many in the Fortune 500, with a strong partner channel. Both companies were acquired — the pricing business in 2018, the reporting product in 2021.

We’ve seen the same pattern on repeat from midsize companies to some of the world’s largest. Beautiful, governed BI platforms get built — then the numbers get exported to Excel anyway, because that’s where finance works. The result: shadow spreadsheets, broken lineage, and all the versioning problems the BI investment was meant to solve.

XLiQ ends that cycle — built on modern technology, shaped by everything we learned along the way. Keep Excel. Lose the export. Keep the governance. That’s the whole idea.

The founders.

Governance isn’t optional

A copy in a spreadsheet is the moment your controls disappear.

Finance owns the report.
